MUSIC

I write music that sometimes resembles genres such as experimental, free improvisation, contemporary classical, comedy, metal and other ‘popular’ styles. It's taken the form of concert music, studio recordings, radio plays, film music, and installations.

Some of my music and performances have been broadcast on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, Resonance FM, Danmarks Radio, ABC Classic FM (Australia) and Kazakhstan TV. I've also had the honour of writing BBC Radio 3's first ever Christmas panto, "Oh, Bobby!".

As a performer (mainly guitar and vocals) I’ve premiered works by composers such as Neil Luck, Michael Finnissy, Chris Newman, Matthew Shlomowitz, Alwynne Pritchard, Claudia Molitor and Trond Reinholdsten. I’ve performed Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire (vocalist) with Ensemble Reconsil at The Arnold Schoenberg Centre in Vienna; we then toured it in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

‘Bands’ I’ve performed with include ARCO, Schopenhauer, Ensemble +-, Zipperface, The London Sinfonietta, Arn & Hammer, The Two Bennys and Judesque.

FILM

I mainly make short film and video work, most of it borders on the surreal or experimental and contains elements of dark humour. It’s been screened at festivals and art galleries, streamed online (Adult Swim/Troma), and performed in concert settings.

SELECTED FESTIVALS & VENUES I've done things at (MUSIC AND FILM)

Latitude (BBC Introducing), London Contemporary Music Festival, London Short Film Festival, Frieze London, Melbourne Festival, MATA (New York), Supernormal, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Spitalfields, ISCM World Music Days (Transit, Belgium), Klang (Denmark), Bergen International Festival (Norway), Go Short Festival (Netherlands), CoMA, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, Regent Street cinema, ICA, Queen Elizabeth Hall, National Portrait Gallery, Cafe Oto, LSO St. Luke’s, Wilton’s Music Hall, The Kitchen (New York), Concertgebouw Bruges, Vortex, Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, The Centre for Recent Drawing and Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

COLLABORATION

It’s been a real pleasure to work with some great artists and musicians on various projects, these include the British artist Bruce McLean (on the film Drumstick), the composer Michael Finnissy (on the two-part piano & film work Hammerklavier), and my brothers in alms, Neil Luck (Ursonate, Arn & Hammer, ARCO, squib-box etc.) and Federico Reuben (Schopenhauer, squib-box). Please check out their stuff.
